PRESS RELEASE

New premium range of unique, hand crafted Japanese-made camera straps and bags.

27th February 2017, Alpha Optical Distribution announces that they have successfully partnered with ARTISAN&ARTIST to distribute their highly individual range of camera straps, accessories and Red Label branded products to the UK channel and Ireland.

Alpha Optical Distribution was founded by Frazer Allen who this year celebrates a grand 46 years in the photo industry. Frazer’s early working life was spent in retail sales with J Lizars Limited and then with Ulster’s Photographic Wholesale. Having left Ireland in 1980, he worked at Paterson Products and Mike Allen Distribution before joining Kyocera Yashica.

Frazer is now Director of Alpha Optical Distribution, and supported by Denys Nelson counts VisibleDust, Kite, Zenelli and Novagrade amongst its agencies. The company continues to strengthen its position as a value added distributor within the photo channel with the appointment of ARTISAN&ARTIST.

ARTISAN&ARTIST from Japan produces exceptional quality products that are borne out of a desire to sensitively blend outstanding craftsmanship with the designs of the artist. The early ARTISAN&ARTIST products proved to be very popular with makeup artists and photographers and in 1999, the ACAM Classic Series of camera bags was created. The design of these bags was based on the concept of classic simplicity with a minimalist and urban look. Emphasis was placed on materials and functionality by employing a water and stain resistant canvas for the main body of the bags and an inner case with removable partitions that allowed perfect protection for different items. This new image of a camera bag that looked discreet and simple appealed to camera owners and professionals alike.

The creativity of ARTISAN&ARTIST is not limited to camera bags - straps, camera half cases and other highly attractive camera accessories are also included in the range. The “Silk Cord Strap” that is woven using the ancient traditions of the artisans of Kyoto, Japan and “Easy Slider Strap” are the signature, iconic straps of the brand. The collaboration between designer and artisan is at the core of all the products designs and acknowledges that the heart of the artist is poured into the creation of the product.  The ARTISAN&ARTIST brand has rapidly expanded and is now available in the USA, Canada, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, China and Australia.

“We are delighted to have secured the distribution of ARTISAN&ARTIST for the UK and Ireland,” said Frazer Allen, Managing Director of Alpha Optical Distribution. “This is an exciting brand – the workmanship is second to none. ARTISAN&ARTIST products are unique – they offer a range of products that the discerning photographer will aspire to own. Each product uses the best quality materials, which the Japanese artisan will cut, work, and sew by hand using century’s old techniques. In 2015, ARTISAN&ARTIST announced their 2nd generation of products from new brand RED LABEL. RED LABEL are lifestyle products that carry on the ARTISAN&ARTIST ethos to combine outstanding functionality and quality. This new agency will complement our existing agencies and offer something that is a little bit different to the existing products that are out there”. Frazer added.

Alpha Optical Distribution will be attending the Photography Show on Stand A82
