Nintendo has confirmed that a new DS model will be released in Japan on 21st Nov in Japan and in Europe next year.

The DSi XL will feature an increase in screen size to 4.2 inches, 93% larger than current models, and will come bundled with the set of Brain Training games and a dictionary.

Battery life will be unaffected. Nintendo says that the DSi XL will last about 4 to 5 hours on maximum brightness and 13 to 17 hours on the lower setting and the retail price, said to be approximately $220, will be a little higher than the current DSi model.

The DSi XL was announced officially during Nintendo's Q2 financial results, in which it was revelaled that the Japaneses company's profits fell by 52%.

The DSi XL will undoubtedly help to boost sales of the hand-held next year, even if the larger screen size is little reason for most people to want to purchase a new model.
