Dishonored 2

You will be able to play Dishonored 2 soon, as it launches on Friday (tomorrow). To whip up a bit more enthusiasm for this highly anticipated sequel Bethesda has just published a launch trailer.

As those who have been following this news and played the previous game will know, it is possible to play this game with a mixture of stealth and savagery but of course stealth doesn't look that appealing in a short promo video. So, after the necessary story prologue and the introduction of some evil foes the video jumps straight to clips of dealing and creatively dispatching your enemies with knives, guns and more. The action looks like it is in-game footage.

Dishonored 2 launches on Xbox One, PS4, and PC tomorrow and some have already been play testing the game on PCs. In its tests PC Gamer refers to the game's PC performance as "troubling". It is said to falter somewhat on machines between the minimum and recommended settings. A NeoGaf user (via TweakTown) is even more critical of the game's performance with the frame rate of the game reportedly 'tanking' whenever an open area is encountered.

Minimum

Recommended

  • Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better
  • 8GB RAM
  • Nvidia GTX 660 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB or better
  • Intel Core i7-4770/AMD FX-8350 or better
  • 16GB RAM
  • Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB/AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB or better

If you are an AMD GPU user you might be pleased to know the firm released a new beta driver yesterday which adds support for Dishonored 2, among other tweaks and fixes. You can read more about that and download it directly from AMD's Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.11.3 release notes page. Nvidia users could grab a game-ready driver a fortnight ago.

Watch Dogs 2

Watch Dogs 2 is available from Tuesday 15th November on consoles and from the 29th November on PCs. Ubisoft published the game's launch trailer yesterday. It again features a large portion of story prologue.

As those following the game's development will know, this sequel is set in San Francisco and the main character is Marcus Holloway. We discover that Marcus decided to join Dedsec as he was a bit miffed about the all encompassing ctOS linking him to a crime he didn't commit. Now he spearheads efforts to destroy the big brother monitoring and controlling system throughout the Bay area.

Like Dishonoured, you can play this game with a mix of styles; from relying on smarts and stealth, to going in guns a blazing and bombs a booming.

I'm much more interested in Dishonored 2 out of those two games. The first Watchdogs was alright, but a bit average. Dishonored was something ‘different’ and alot more interesting, so I look forwards to exporing that alternate world again in the second game.

Worth waiting on Dishonored 2. It needs patching - as with Arkham Knight, some people have no problems but tons of others are (hence Mixed rating on Steam). They moved away from Unreal to a different engine, and performance so far is nothing like as good as D1 was.
I'm struggling to remember which game was Dishonoured and which one was Thief. They blur into one in my mind… and maybe a bit of Bioshock Infinite too
I'm currently playing Dishonored 2 with an aging i5 2500k OC'd to 4.4ghz 24GB of DDR3 1866, a Geforce 1080 OC'd 2100 + another 500 on the mem making it 11000.

Most of the time with the game set to Ultra im getting 80-120 Fps. on some large open scenes it can dip to 60ish fps but generally travelling on a boat cutscene style.

For my setup it runs alot better than arkham knight did, the biggest problem I had with Arkham Knight was all the crashing to desktop and no saved progress made that game unplayble for myself, where as Dishonered 2 has yet to do anthing close to that bad on my PC. The only thing I have changed since Arkham knight and now is my GPU.

If u have a 1070 or 1080gpu + 16GB of ram & a SSD of course Id say try dishonored 2, the game is good epsec if u wanna try for ghost achievements etc. You can always steam refund it by keeping under 2hrs played, which if you choose non stealth you would reach the 2nd large area under steams 2hr played time limit.

In afterburner I have had it show upto 10GB of ram in use and arround 4gb on the GPU at times, so people with 8GB of ram and 3-4GB on the GPU may exceed their maximum ram capacity, on ultra setting @ 2160x1440p.
