News circulated around the web that Eurocom was going to release the ultimate laptop, imbued with Core i7 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 graphics card.

Now, a month later, we spotted Clevo advertising the chassis at CeBIT. Say hi to the Clevo D900F.

Tipping the scales at an impressive 5.7kg and featuring a Core i7 940 CPU running in the sample, the behemoth packs in a 17in WUXGA screen, X58 motherboard, and space for three hard drives.

Then there's the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 graphics card, in mobile form, that, sadly, isn't a derivative of the desktop model. Rather, it's a heavily-overclocked GeForce 9800 GTX mobile.

The bulky chassis won't be to the taste of everyone, of course, and the sheer thickness of the case can be guesstimated by the relative size of a Samsung G600 mobile phone

Representatives reckoned that the chassis should be with select partners real soon, with shipping models available in May. We expect a fully-laden system to cost north of £2,000, however.
