MESH Computers has introduced a new line of "Cute" computers designed to bring a full-HD PC experience to big-screen displays.

At the heart of the new range lies the MESH Cute X215 HD, a home-theatre PC (HTPC) that looks a fairly decent solution. And don't let the red styling put you off, it's also available in black, white and blue.

The MESH Cute's mini-ITX chassis measures 303mm x 200mm x 166mm, and inside you'll find a 2.7GHz AMD Athlon II X2 215 dual-core processor sitting atop of AMD's 780G chipset. The latter incorporates a Radeon HD 3200 IGP so users can look forward to 40 stream processors, full DX10 compliance and hardware-accelerated decoding courtesy of UVD 2.0.

Elsewhere, you'll be getting 2GB of DDR2 memory, a 320GB hard drive, a dual DVB-T TV tuner and remote control, a Logitech keyboard and mouse combo, and a built-in Blu-ray drive.

The full-HD box of tricks is currently retailing at £399.99, making it a pretty decent offering. We'd love to see one equipped with AMD's newer 785G chipset, though.

By cute did you mean ghastly?

Red, blue and yellow on the front panel? Someone at Mesh needs to google “colour wheel”
The case appears to be the CFI A8989.
OR people could follow the excellent self-build HTPC guide that that Shooty* fellow has posted on the forum somewhere….

320gb… pah! That would barely contain my Star Trek avi collection!

Although I have now removed my two 1tb drives and networked the whole thing to a server…

Sometimes, I really feel like Manfred Macx. And that scares me.

£33 inc VAT and including PSU! Cheaper than any other HTPC cases I've considered by some margin. Anybody got any experience of this case, and more importantly, that PSU??

EDIT: & if any Hexus staff are reading this, how about a roundup of HTPC cases? There must be more and more people looking into building these, and they're obviously a different market to most cases.

(goes away to look at the other cases on linitx.com…)

It's a lovely case, certainly, but you have to factor in the premium you'll pay for mini-itx components to go with it.

There's a couple of good reviews (I was looking at it myself as a possible case to mod for mini-itx watercooling) if you google the case details…
