There is little reason for Sata-interfacing drives not to max out the connection in sequential tests. The four-channel SM controller does a reasonable job at just that, and we expect to see 500MB/s for both reads and writes when moving large files from one drive to another.

We also tested this by shifting a 104GB folder from the BX200 to the MX500, and the whole operation averaged just under 500MB/s.

Looking at specific performance when moving small files around in a random fashion, MX500's firmware is up to scratch because it posts better results than the BX200 and Toshiba TR200.
