Business magazine Fast Company has published its latest list of what it considers to be the most innovative companies in the world.

Perhaps unsurprisingly for a US mag the list is dominated by US companies, but there some interesting new entrants at the top as well as a resurgence from more established technology companies.

The most remarkable change is the supplanting of Google from the top spot by none other than Team Obama.  The new US president is generally considered to owe his nomination and subsequent election to cunning use of t'Internet.

He is currently the most followed person on Twitter with 331,179 followers, after all. Although the old Twitter feed has gone suspiciously quiet since he got elected. It's also worth popping in to his web store, where he's currently offering up to 50 percent off Obama paraphernalia.

Other notable new entrants to the list include free video content site Hulu (currently only available to US residents) at number three and the makers of the Flip digital video cameras, Pure Digital Technologies, at number seven.
