Going beyond PCs

New-look Westcoast has decided to expand its product portfolio by getting into memory products for the first time. It has won the rights to distribute the full range of Transcend’s RAM, flash and HDD products.

Eddie Wardlaw, Westcoast product manager, said: ‘We feel the time is right for us to make an impact in the UK memory market with a premium brand offering that falls in line with our commitment to supply market leading products at competitive prices.’

Westoast has a ‘narrow and deep’ philosophy, which has traditionally put a premium on fostering strong relationships with a small number of partners. So it’s safe to assume that taking on a new partner in a new market segment is a fairly big deal for it.

Transcend UK’s GM, Norman Hsu, said: ‘Westcoast is the ideal partner to compete with the likes of Kingston and Crucial to gain marketshare.’
