Retaining key personnel the key

Interactive Ideas, the software, peripherals and accessories distie, today announced turnover of £11.1 million for fiscal 2007-08 and rewarded the company’s sales and marketing managers by appointment to the board of directors.

Brett Savidge, who joined the company ten years ago, becomes the new sales director, and Michael Breeze (pictured), who joined nine years ago, the new marketing director.

HEXUS.channel spoke to Breeze about his promotion today. "This is recognition of the key contribution we've [Breeze and Savidge] have made in the past couple of years and the work that has been put in during our time with Interactive.” he said. “Turnover was £4 million when I started and we’re targeting £14 million for the current financial year.”

Asked if his promotion marked a change of direction for the distie, Breeze said: “There has already been a fair bit of change in the past two to three years, with us shifting our emphasis from boxed software to things you can’t download like peripherals and accessories as well as corporate software like Novell and Red Hat.”

Breeze also revealed that Interactive has taken on a fair bit of business following the demise of games peripherals distributor Just last February. He also hinted that there was further news to come in that area, but didn’t want to elaborate until it was completed.

“I am really pleased to be able to recognise and reward the incredible enterprise and loyalty Brett and Michael have shown the company,” said Interactive MD Mike Trup. “When we say ‘our people are important to us’ it is not just a platitude. Just look at the longevity within the business where we have many team members that have been with us for 5 years or more.”

“This is remarkable in an industry renowned for high staff turnover and job hopping,” Trup concluded. “Our suppliers and customers alike appreciate our stability and commitment to long-term relationships.”

Congratulations to Bret and Breeze on their well deserved promotions. I had the pleasure of working with them both at my time with Interactive Ideas and I wish them good luck with their future business.
