One that did not go the distance
In a brief PR on Sunday, Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced a confidential settlement that resolves HP’s original March and April 2007 suits, Acer’s join-the-party suits against some of its suppliers, and two US International Trade Commission investigations.
The stated aim of the 2007 suits was to ban the sale of Acer PCs in the USA, alleging breaches of technology patents including read/write optical drives, power management in notebooks, digital bus arrangement, thermal management and video control.
