Taking the p*ss

Regardless of the eventual outcome, AMD execs - past and present - are clearly determined to enjoy Intel's embarrassment at the hands of the increasingly assertive European Commission.

Just to remind you, the EC decided to publish a bunch of juicy details from its investigation into Intel's anti-competitive business practices in Europe earlier this week. While Intel continues to refute the validity of the evidence supplied by the EC, the PR genie is nonetheless out of the bottle and people are, at the very least, likely to conclude there's no smoke without fire.

After a few years of losing out consistently to Intel, AMD is understandably keen to capitalise on any setbacks suffered by its bigger rival, especially when AMD has had a hand in it. So it was no surprise to see AMD's legal VP issue an immediate response and to see its chief marketing officer - Nigel Dessau - blogging on the subject within hours of the EC announcement.

What was more of a surprise, however was for Dessau to compare Intel's PR efforts on this matter to a scene from Monty Python's Life of Brian, but that's just what he did. Dessau is saying that he isn't convinced by the holes Intel has identified in the EC case and you can read his blog here. Just to remind you of the Python sketch in question, we've embedded it below.
