Watch out iPhone
T-Mobile has won the race to launch the first ever mobile phone handset to run on Android, the much hyped open mobile platform developed by a consortium of technology companies headed up by Google.
It's called the G1, presumably in deference to Google, and has been made in partnership with HTC. Like HTC's TyTN handset, it combines a touch screen with a mini QWERTY keyboard.
It is being made available to US T-Mobile customers as early as 22nd October for prices starting at $179.99 plus a two year contact. The only pricing and availability T-Mobile has committed to for the UK is "...free on price plans from £40 a month, which will include unlimited mobile internet browsing," and "...before Christmas this year."
