New software updates from AVerMedia as requested by you.
AVerMedia prides itself on being a leader in its field, along with every other company on the market! So just how do you go about proving you are an industry leader?
‘We believe that creating innovative products and reacting to market demands quickly is what makes us an industry leader’, says Jon Rainford, UK Multimedia Product Manager, AVerMedia Technologies (UK Ltd). ‘Being one step ahead of the rest by listening to customer feedback and reacting to it accordingly highlights our willingness to prove our position in the market.’
AVerMedia recently launched a brand new software version (AP6) that is now supplied with its TV Tuner range. AP6 was ergonomically designed to fit in with any lifestyle, incorporating advanced functions such as ‘multi-user setting’ and ‘wake-up recording from hibernate/standby mode’ as well as offering easy to use settings for smooth, no-fuss control.
Since the launch AVerMedia received a lot of feedback from TV Tuner users as well as technology experts (IT Journalists) on what they felt was missing from the software or would prefer to have changed. AVerMedia has since developed a new software update that will shortly be available to download from the AVerMedia website to be used with its current products and will be supplied as standard with new products.
The latest software updates that AVerMedia have worked on include; Logical Channel Numbering (LCN), an enhanced Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), Digital Subtitles, New Skinning Options and MHEG 5 Support.
MHEG 5 or Digital Teletext, as it is better known, is not a common feature on TV Tuners in the current market but AVerMedia have worked hard developing its software to fully support it. Users can now use Interactive Teletext at the touch of a button.
The new software update from AVerMedia will also fully support Digital subtitles.
An enhanced EPG will now allow users to view Multi-Channel listings. Previously, it was only possible to view one channel’s listings at a time but AVerMedia’s developers have since enhanced the guide so that users can now view all available channels’ listings no matter what frequency they are tuned into.
Logical Channel Numbering. In the past, AVerMedia’s software labelled and numbered channels as they were picked up (so if Sky News was the first channel scanned, then Sky News would be labelled channel 1 and so on) but now, channel numbers are assigned to the correct channels – this is still a very rare feature on PC compatible TV Tuners.
Finally, AVerMedia have introduced a new skinning option to its software. Users will be able to choose from a variety of interface skins to suit their lifestyle. New skins will be available on a regular basis and for the technical minded – it is also possible for users to create their own skins. It is expected in the near future that the new skinning options will include the eagerly awaited 10 foot interface for the full ‘Media Center’ experience.
AVerMedia will continue to listen to feedback regarding its software and will provide customers with downloadable updates from its website on a regular basis. Although AVerMedia work very closely with 3rd party companies such as Showshifter and CyberLink to ensure that its products are fully compatible with each users’ personal choice of software, it hopes that by tailoring its own software to end users requirements, AP6 will become the first choice interface for TV Tuner users.
