LAS VEGAS, 6th January 2014 - LG Electronics (LG), a global technology leader in consumer electronics, today revealed its latest range of home entertainment innovations at the Consumer Electronics Show. LG's 2014 TV lineup heroes the brand's radical new Smart TV platform, developed from the reinvention of webOS technology to offer an intuitive user interface and refreshingly uncomplicated experience. Also unveiled at the show were some of the world's largest and most impressive screens, with LG showcasing the world's largest CURVED ULTRA HD TV at 105 inches - which is also the first ever 21:9 aspect ratio CURVED ULTRA HD TV - and the world's biggest ULTRA HD CURVED OLED TV at 77 inches.

"LG has always been at the forefront of technology innovation, but 2014 marks a significant step for us in the breadth and depth of our product offer." Says Andy Mackay, UK Commercial Director, Consumer Electronics. "One of the biggest successes for us in this year's home entertainment lineup is the combination of a pioneering, intuitive and easy to use Smart TV service in webOS, matched with world leading screen technologies.

"LG's webOS Smart TV platform realises the potential of online services and apps via true integration of Smart TV into consumer's user experience. When coupled with the quality, premium hardware that we are renowned for producing, this allows users to easily enjoy their favourite content with a stunning viewing experience."

Introducing LG webOS; Making TV Simple

webOS, which was purchased from Hewlett-Packard in March last year, has been reinvented and reintroduced as LG's new Smart TV platform. The new operating system offers an intuitive user interface for an experience that is both seamless and refreshingly uncomplicated, based on years of experience collected by the webOS team. Furthermore, the new platform makes it extremely easy for developers to create applications and enhances the compatibility of LG's Smart TVs with other devices.

The webOS platform will be available across all LG's step up and premium Smart TVs in 2014 and greatly simplifies the Smart TV experience. Its ease-of-use makes content searching and viewing, connecting with other devices, and even the initial setup process incredibly smooth.

The new Launcher, a left-to-right scrollable menu that runs along the lower portion of the screen makes it possible to switch between broadcast TV, smart TV content and media stored on external devices without having to return to the Home screen. It allows the viewer to simultaneously watch a show, play a game or browse the internet while searching or downloading other content. What's more, Live Menu, which can be opened while viewing the TV, keeps the search, recommendation and channel options within easy reach.

LG unveils World's First 105-inch CURVED ULTRA HD TV

Visitors to the stand would struggle to miss the world's first 21:9 aspect ratio CURVED ULTRA HD TV (Model 105UB9). At 105 inches this is LG's first CURVED ULTRA HD model and the largest curved TV ever made. This awe-inspiring TV offers magnificent picture quality and a wide viewing angle, while it's cinematically proportioned 21:9 CinemaScope screen is ideal for enjoying movies as they were meant to be enjoyed. What's more, its expansive screen enables users to access viewing information on the side of the screen without blocking any of the on-going action.

The new model is equipped with a robust 4.1 channel, 320 watt sound system and an external wireless subwoofer.

LG's Wireless Audio System, winner of a 2014 CES Innovation Award, gives users the power to choose from virtually limitless home audio configurations. This uses the latest mesh network technology and dual band Wi-Fi support (2.4/5GHz) to deliver high quality streaming music throughout the home.

The Lifeband Touch and LG Heart Rate Earphones, two wearable products that mark the company's first foray into fitness technology, are also on show. Both products incorporate impressive design and savvy compatibility with other devices, for comfortable and convenient health monitoring.

Lifeband Touch is a fitness wristband that incorporates an asymmetric and flexible design for optimal comfort and is compatible with heart rate monitors (HRM) as well as smartphones. Featuring a Touch OLED panel to display time, biometrics, incoming calls and music controls, the built-in 3-axis accelerometer and altimeter allows the device to accurately measure key performance indicators such as distance, speed, number of steps, calories consumed and projected pace via the LG fitness app (or third party apps). Incorporating a unique motion-sensing algorithm that automatically turns on the display when the wearer rotates his or her wrist, the Lifeband Touch also offers wireless connectivity via Bluetooth.

LG's Heart Rate Earphones feature PerformTek® sensor technology which measures blood flow signals from the inner part of the ear to capture accurate biometric data such as heart rate and maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max).

Visitors to LG's booth at CES 2014 (Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall #8204) Tuesday 7th January - Friday 10th January will have the opportunity to see these unique products for themselves.
