Libratone introduces a new line of portable wireless speakers that deliver flexible multi-room listening experiences

Copenhagen, Denmark, 20th October - Award-winning audio company, Libratone, has today announced the launch of a brand new line-up of its top-selling ZIPP wireless speakers. The new ‘ZIPPs’ combine exceptional sound quality with portable multi-room connectivity to suit today’s “elastic lifestyle” – a flexible, functional and simple living style.

The launch of the new ZIPP line-up also marks the launch of the Libratone’s new listening concept, SoundSpaces, which also launches this month. While most conventional multi-room speakers are designed to stay in one place, SoundSpaces gives users the connectivity and freedom to move their speakers from room to room and link them together as suits each situation.

Based on award-winning design and technology

The new ZIPP line-up is based on the award-winning design and technology of the classic Libratone ZIPP. The classic ZIPP is Libratone’s best-selling product to date. It has continuously earned ‘best-in-test’ reviews and has won numerous awards for both design and technology, including the International CES Innovations Design and Engineering award. However, with this next generation of ZIPP speakers, Libratone has been able to make further refinements, offering an improved product at a lower price point.

Libratone believe strongly in the growth of the “elastic lifestyle”. This phrase was coined by Scandinavian trend institute The PEJ Group. CEO of the PEJ Group Louise Byg Kongsholm explains “We have become accustomed to technology that makes life simpler. Out of this, we have developed a need for environments that can be twisted, expanded, and adjusted to different everyday situations. The elastic lifestyle requires that the elements in our home are functional, flexible, simple, and above all, they need to help us create the perfect mood for every situation.”

Libratone CEO Jan McNair says the new ZIPP line-up is a response to this megatrend, “Today’s consumers expect their sound to be ever-present, portable and flexible. The new generation of ZIPP speakers feature SoundSpaces  Link, which lets you connect up to 6 speakers via WiFi and place them anywhere, in any room, and move them around as you wish. It’s an exciting addition to the audio market, and we are proud to be the first to provide it.”

The new ZIPP line-up includes the ZIPP (100W) and ZIPP Mini (60W). Both speakers contain only specially designed Libratone elements – no standard components – and offer both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, making them ideal for streaming both at home and on the go. 

The new ZIPP feature set also includes Spotify Connect and Apple Music compatibility, 360° FullRoom™  Sound, a new intuitive touch interface, speakerphone capability, streaming and storage of up to 5 internet stations controlled directly from the speaker, and 8-10 hours battery life. All features can be set up and controlled remotely via the redesigned Libratone app, which can be downloaded from the Apple app store and GooglePlay.

Colourful customisation

Available from 22nd October, both the ZIPP (£219) and ZIPP Mini (£179) have a durable white base and a mesh fabric cover available in four colours: Cloudy Grey, Deep Lagoon, Graphite Grey, Victory Red. Extra covers are available in Atlantic Deep, Signal and Sangria and retail for £19. The ZIPP and ZIPP Mini will be available from 22nd October at Libratone.com. They will also be available on johnlewis.com and in John Lewis stores from November.
