Nokia Showcases Altec Lansing's Nôbi Portable Speaker System at IFA 2007

London, August 2007 – Altec Lansing, a division of Plantronics (NYSE: PLT), and Nokia today announced the new NôbiTM – an ultra portable speaker system designed to deliver mobile phone users rich stereo sound directly from the new Nokia XpressMusic series of MP3 enabled mobile phones.

Altec Lansing and Nokia co-developed the new Nôbi as a stereo system accessory to Nokia's new XpressMusic series of MP3 enabled mobile phones. The combination of Altec Lansing's stereo expertise and Nokia's advanced music enabled handsets reflect the two companies' dedication to offering consumers a dynamic, simple and portable music experience.  Altec Lansing's new Nôbi portable speaker system will be showcased for the first time Friday August 31 – Wednesday September 5 at IFA 2007 in Berlin, Germany.

"Nokia and Altec Lansing share the vision that music, video and communication are converging into single mobile devices such as Nokia's new XpressMusic series," said Bernice Cramer, vice president of Integrated Communications and Entertainment for Altec Lansing. "Altec Lansing is dedicated to providing users around the world with easier access to their music and entertainment while they are mobile. Working with an industry leader like Nokia is an ideal way to accomplish that."

"Recognizing the increasing role of mobile phones in music consumption, globally-recognized audio manufacturers, including Altec Lansing will offer a range of music accessories matching the Nokia XpressMusic handsets in design and functionality", says Heikki Norta, Senior Vice President, Nokia. "As phones increasingly feature music, the demand for mobile accessories like the Nôbi will also grow."

Small enough to fit in a pocket, bag or backpack, the compact Nôbi portable speaker system weighs only .28kg (10oz) and measures approximately 109mm H x 65mm W x 35mm D (4.29" x  2.55" x 1.37"). When coupled via its 2.5mm connector to a Nokia XpressMusic phone or other audio device, the Nôbi provides rich, clear 360-degree sound. AAA batteries offer 24 hours of audio play time.

The new Nôbi will be available in October 2007 at leading wireless retailers in Europe.
