Incredible price, so they say
Venturer's forthcoming HD-DVD player, the SHD7001 will launch in the UK on December 29th. Available initially from QVC Home Shopping Channel, the SHD7001 aims to bring a "striking, unrivalled picture" at "an incredible price".
The catch? Well, we don't yet know what that incredible price will be. Seeing as the Toshiba HD-EP30 HD-DVD Player is available from Play.com at a cost of £199.99, including no less than 7 free HD-DVD titles, the Venturer SHD7001 is really going to have to launch with a price tag that'll impress us all. £99 for a standalone player? Doubtful, but one can always hope!
The SHD7001 provides video output at 720p or 1080i via HDMI and support for audio formats Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus,Dolby TrueHD, DTS and DTS HD. Another bonus for this "incredibly priced" player is that it'll upscale your existing DVDs to a higher resolution. Taking full advantage of HD-DVD features, an Ethernet port is also included allowing users to connect to the internet and access further bonus features.
To sweeten the deal that little bit further, the Venturer player will launch with a free add on package for a limited period only. The package will consist of Hulk and Troy on HD-DVD and an HDMI cable. Not quite as sweet as the 7 free HD-DVDs that Toshiba are currently giving away with their players mind you.
We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for the actual price of this product, in the meantime we'll let you keep guessing.
