BT, slowly but surely, is making inroads into its plans to deploy a fibre-optic infrastructure that will bring broadband speeds of up to 100Mbps to some ten million British homes by 2012.

Having announced the names of its first 29 fibre-enabled exchanges back in March, it's today following up with the addition of a further 69 sites - all of which will have access to fibre-optic services by early summer 2010, says BT.

The UK telecommunications operator states that it's speeding up its fibre roll out, and having originally planned to get fibre services to half a million homes by March 2010, it now hopes to serve double the number of users in the same time period.

BT still has a long way to go in order to meet its target of ten million British homes by 2012, but the list of 69 locations soon to be upgrades is as follows:

They would be better off getting broadband to everyone first… my grandparents still aren't serviceable by a broadband enabled line
WALKDEN North West

Wahoo - get in.

We got fast ADSL quite early and now this
not in my area yet :( would love the ultra-fast broadband!
So disappointing.. the exchange next to mine is getting it!! If only I lived in a slightly different part of town…

Ah well, I can only hope that the infrastructure required for this means there's a higher chance we'll get it sooner than later?

my copper line is so bad, and im so far from the exchange, that ADSL is less than 4meg and drops out every erm… 30-180seconds, i was forced to go with VM for BB
