Technicalities

Inside the device we find an Intel XScale processor running at 416mhz coupled with a shared 64mb of ram, in addition to this, a paltry 8mb flash based storage. I say shared ram because that’s exactly how it is, out of the box the M500 shows 57mb after software has been loaded and by default this is a 50-50 share between storage and program utilisation, in real terms though, usable memory is a lowly 17mb each for storage and programs.

The M500 itself weighs in at a respectable 150g with the battery fitted, and dimensionally its only 108mm x 58mm x 18mm. Orange quotes a battery life of 5 days talk time and a standby expectancy of 7.5 days, all in all, respectable performance for a Windows 2003 Mobile powered device.
