Inside and out
At the top of the handset is the power on button for the handset, and alongside this is the infra-red sensor that can be used for file transfer and communication. Underneath the infra-red sensor is a small opening that is used alongside the main earpiece for the speakerphone function, although this was found to be disappointingly quiet.
On the base of the handset are the usual connectors for the Orange Smart Phone range, with the headset being the standard audio jack type and the charging being done via a USB interface.
When you actually get the battery cover off the back of the SPV C550 you are faced with a large battery that dominates over half the back of the device. Although hefty in proportions, the battery performance itself was disappointing to say the least.
Underneath the battery you find the space for the sim card as well as a pre-installed 128mb mini SD Card, a welcome addition considering the price point of this handset. If there is one thing of note here it’s the ease with which you can get your sim card in and out of this phone. Lately, manufacturers seem to be making it harder and harder to do so.
