A Wii and a PS3 exclusive - lovely.
Super Smash Bros Brawl – WiiCartoon violence, I love it! Especially when it comes in the shape of Mario and his colourful friends. Super Smash Bros Brawl promises to be an action-packed fighting game and will feature a ridiculous number of characters that have appeared on Nintendo platforms, from Mario to Link to Pikachu ... to Solid Snake!
As they square off in famous locales drawn from the rich history of Nintendo, literally anything can happen - and probably will knowing Nintendo. With limitless customising options, items and weapons that boggle the mind and a wealth of modes, this game promises to have infinite replayability.
Let’s not also forget that, for the first time, this celebrated series is going Wi-Fi, allowing up to four players to brawl, no matter where they may be!
After playing Super Mario Galaxy we already know that Mario and Wii are a match made in heaven. Super Smash Bros Brawl could well be the best Wii game of 2008.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots – PS3
You’ll have to buy yourself a PS3 if you want to play one of the hottest titles of 2008.
As with its predecessors, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot is a story-driven game, with seasoned hero Solid Snake drafted for one final mission. Set across stages including the Middle East and South America, the now aged Snake has been asked to assassinate his old adversary, Liquid Ocelot. To do this, however, he must make his way through a series of battlefields, using his legendary stealth abilities and all-new OctoCamo suit to avoid detection and to reach his target. With series favourites such as Meryl Silverburgh, Raiden, Hal ‘Otacon’ Emmerich, and Roy Campbell returning, and with all new gameplay features including a remote-controlled ‘Metal Gear Mk. II’ droid and enhanced CQC (Close Quarters Combat) system, MGS4 should round of the Metal Gear saga with a fittingly cinematic and gripping final outing.
Rumour has it that there's been so much money ploughed into the development of MGS4 that the title really does have to sell millions in order to recoup the losses. There's no reason why it shouldn't.
