The rumour mill grinds on

New Game Modes

New game modes will almost certainly be added. Halo games have never had a defend/attack mode simlilar to games such as Call of Duty or Ghost Recon. This game mode is rumoured to be called Alliance and will include defending a position whilst dozens of vicious grunts or human controlled players attack. Or how about a Vehicle Death match similar to that of Death Race 2000?

More Than Two Weapons
In Halo you've only been able to carry two weapons at a time. Rumours are circulating that there are plans increase the amount so that you could potentially carry as many weapon as you can grab. Weapon whores will be glad to see this happen, it means they could pocket the Sword, grenade launcher, battle rifle and sniper leaving all the rubbish weapons for everyone else. If this feature was to be included I'd suggest there would be a lot of unhappy people. However if there was an option to turn it on and off that would be a better alternative.

Map Editor
The likes of Pariah have seen great map editors.Downloading maps that have been created by other players has never been so easy.Creating your own map provides you with a great sense of achievment. Xbox 360 focuses on being able to customise almost anything so this could be a likely feature of the new game. This would also increase the longevity of the game online, not that Halo needs it!

Movie Editor
The famous Red Vs Blue episodes give you an idea of exactly what could be achieved with a movie editor. This would be a hilarious and ground breaking addition to an already great franchise. Play through an online game with friends, record it, then edit it with your voice playing the characters. Can they pull it off? Of course they can!

Voice Acting From Stars Of The New Halo Film

Who cares quite frankly? It could be Stephen Hawkings providing the voice of Master Chief for all I care.

New editions of Zanzibar, Sidewinder & Hang Em High

I hope not and I doubt it.Expect Halo 3 to throw up some totally new environments. Why go back to previous maps when you can create even better ones.

Bungie Not Producing Halo 3
The original story was actually reported on the BBC's news site. During an interview with Bungie studio manager Pete Parsons he said, "We have several-hundred years of Halo fiction laid out," he said, referring to more novels based on the game and a possible Halo film. But when asked about Bungie's next project, Parsons said that "after Halo 2 Bungie is planning to do something different. It will do something else and has a few ideas." I think that people may have read a bit too deep into these comments and angry Halo fans have been discussing it ever since.

There are hundreds of rumours, some say the storyline will be a prequel to Halo, others say it's a continuation of Halo2. One thing we can be certain of is Halo 3 is going to be an immense online and hopefully offline experience.

HEXUS.gaming: Second Shot

Nick Haywood writes:
As with any hotly anticipated game, rumours will be rife right up until announcements are made and even until the game is released. You can bet that Microsoft and Bungie will manage this very carefully to keep as many gamers as possible talking about Halo 3... people love to speculate, so why stop them? As long as they're talking about your game, who cares what they say?
Whilst some of these rumours are just based on what players want to see, none of them seem so outlandish as to be impossible and all of them seem geared towards giving a better game, though quite what Bungie will manage to throw onto more than one disk is beyond me... a 4.3Gig DVD can hold at least 90 minutes of DVD quality footage, so unless Bungie have taken a leaf out of Electronics Arts' book and gone for a massive amount of real-life cutscenes, I can't imagine Halo 3 sitting on more than one disk. Similarly, 64 players should be possible with properly optimised net-code, even with voice comms.
The release date for Halo 3 is a reasonable rumour to believe, as Bill Gates heavily hinted about it in an interview a while back... but it's worthwhile remembering that a lot of these rumours come from third or even fourth hand information. The only people who really know what Halo 3 is going to be like are the guys coding it... and they're not saying anything... yet.

lush screanshot if its real
cant wait for an anouncement by bungie
Launch date same as PS3 launch

If thats true then its going to be rushed to market. This would be a major mistake for MS/Bungie, look at the amount of comments about Halo2's ending. You should never rush a game just to hit a certain, in this case fictional, date.

Wireless Peripheral Support
One of of the latest rumours to reach us is the option to use a wireless keyboard and mouse for control over the joypad. This move alone could bridge the gap between console and PC gaming, bringing far more players who prefer their FPSs on the PC over to the Xbox 360 scene. This is 100% possible, the tehnology is already in place and all it would take is a bit of coding to make the game recognise a different input device. If true, this latest whisper we've heard could open Halo 3 up to a much larger audience!

If this really happens then it defeats the object of being a console. I want to play my 360 in the living room lying back on the sofa. I don't want to have to play Halo3 at a desk with keyboard & mouse, It also gives an unfair advantage over those who play on the controller. If MS implement this feature i will not be playing online.

More Than Two Weapons

This is what made Halo1/2 so good and a challange to play in the harder modes. Changing this to follow most PC games is another backward step, and would make the game so much easier.

As Nick added, all these are rumours and until Bungie/MS confirm what is going to be added to Halo3 i will take everything with a pinch of salt.
I'd just like to point out that the article is just a round-up of the more feasible rumours we've heard and is in no way intended to be anything other than an interest piece. Both Steve and myself are taking all these rumours with the same pinch of salt as bean is! :D
It is unfortunate, but Bungie will almost certainly be rushed with Halo 3. You only have to watch the special edition bonus DVD that came with Halo 2 to realise that they effectively started from scratch *after* the amazing E3 2003 trailer; they built the game in about 16 months. Given that Halo took over 2 years to be released from the first announcement, and had been in work (in a number of guises) for some years before that it shouldn't be too surprising that it was a very refined experience. If Microsoft know what's good for them, they'll let Bungie alone to take as long as they want, but - despite Bungie insisting this is the case - I strongly doubt they'll do that.

As an aside, the screenshot is a quite obvious hoax; the SMG in shot has been taken directly from this Bungie Halo 2 render: http://www.bungie.net/images/Games/Halo2/Gallery/Renders/smg_back.jpg

duh! :)
The people on bungie forums dont get very excited too easily and dont believe it, but call me a die hard, just think, why was the halo 2 story so short? because they already had part 3, they finished both and ever since then just held on to it. personally and this is only my opinion, they had h3 all the time but just released half of it!

Look at “back to the future” they made part 2 and 3 at the same time, does anybody remember? thats how they do things in this industry, its possible to keep such a thing a secret.
