10 Great videogames for 2007

In no particular order we've detailed 10 (hopefully) great games that we can all look forward to in 2007. We're sure you'll all have your favourites that aren't included in the list - maybe Grand Theft Auto IV, Fable 2 or Spore - but we've limited the list to the ten games that we personally can't wait to get our hands on.

Assassin’s Creed – PS3/Xbox 360

The game is set in 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history.

The gamer plays as a member of the assassin sect Hashashin known as Altaïr (Arabic, "The Flyer") whose objective is to assassinate the nine historical figures who are "architecting" the crusades, and the suffering of the people. As the gamer finds and kills these targets, their conspiracy is unveiled. The player will be able to travel through three cities, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus.

More details on the unique storyline were revealed by US actress Kristen Bell a few weeks ago.

Crysis - PC

We’ve covered this sci-fi first person shooter many times, with an exclusive interview on HEXUS.TV and dozens of screenshots. You’re going to need to upgrade your PCs if you want to take full advantage of the immense graphics, but we're hoping it will be worth it.

Crysis offers players a highly immersive FPS experience in which they will have to adapt their tactics, weaponry, and armour and gameplay style to survive and defeat the alien invasion.

The two rival nations unite to stop the aliens and save mankind. The newly formed alliance fights epic battles against the marauding Aliens. With hope rapidly fading, the player must lead a crack squad through lush tropical jungle, harsh frozen landscapes, and finally into the heart of the alien ship itself for the ultimate Zero G encounter with the aliens.
