With 1.3 million copies sold on day one alone, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was the big PS3-exclusive game that Sony was relying on this year to help drive sales of its hardware.

By all accounts, it did the job, with reports of MGS bundles selling out worldwide faster than a Wii console. Despite rumours surfacing in 2007 that Konami were indeed planning an Xbox 360 version, the developer and Sony made it quite clear that the last episode in the series would be released only on PS3.

New rumours have now come to light, however, suggesting that Konami may well have been planning the release of an Xbox 360 title all along.

Kotaku reports that Japanese website Morningstar has a report in which Konami PR representative Yoshitaka Arai tells them:

The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version (of MGS4) is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to.

Considering that the PS3 has now lost exclusivity of the Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and the Tekken franchise, the only real surprise is why Konami didn't release an Xbox 360 version in the first place.

Xboxliveaddicts even claim that the Xbox 360 version will offer exclusive content and gameplay not offered in the PS3 edition.

For now, it's still a rumour, but an official announcement could be imminent.

Hopefully next will be LBP Then I won't have a reason to buy a PS3

WIN :D
I think most developers have given up on the PS3. Too much work for too little return.

The only exclusives now will probably be by Sony themselves….

Still, the PS3 is a decent priced BluRay player with some extra functionality ;)
doesnt suprise me, gives them a much larger market to cash in on.
If it is true how are they going to fit a game that apparently fills a blu-ray disc onto dvd?

Could be a multi dvd or use different compression techniques for the textures/use mandatory new features out in the next dashboard update ;)
