At this year's Penny Arcade Expo (PAX Prime 2011), a panel of developers representing Halo 4 have revealed that the next game in the first-person shooter series will be the first in a new "Reclaimer Trilogy.'

Speaking directly from the event this week, franchise Director Frank O'Connor didn't reveal any of the finer details about the new trilogy, other than its name and the fact that "will deal with the fate of John and the fate of Cortana."

Following the event, however, Microsoft has let some concept art flood into the public domain. Check these out...

Halo 4 is a long way off a release date, but if you can't wait till then for a bit of Master Chief action, check out Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, an updated version of the original Halo game, is due for release in November 2011.

Blah Blah, Halo is so yesterday, nothing new here, move along

(I am hiding my anticipation behind a facade of indifference, can you tell?)

I'm maybe missing something, but I thought the whole purpose of the Halo “campaign” modes were purely to train players to get onto the online modes. In which case, there's no need for a novel-like “back story” and they can do it a lot simpler, e.g.

"Hi you're a soldier, here's an artificial intelligence that accompanies you sometimes, there's also a couple of other soldiers who aren't as tough as you. Here comes the enemies, they're called the Covenant. Right, now trying some shooting … don't forget to reload. Now do some driving from here to there. Now shoot something else (with different weapons). Congratulations - campaign finished, now go online".

From what I understand, there's plenty of other game titles out there more worthy of the attention - Deus Ex, Bioshock, etc, etc, etc. Certainly I've not spent any cash on Halo title's since ‘3 and that didn’t even get finished.
