Fable 2

Arguably one of the world's most brilliant and inventive game developers, Peter Molyneux, has told us that the chicken-kicking RPG, Fable 2, will shock us with its brilliance.

In an exclusive interview with Spong, Molyneux sheds further light on Fable 2 without going into specific details but instead teases us with the mention of some surprises,

" There’s a very, very, very big surprise in what Fable 2 has got, which I hope will be very unexpected. This is me in my PR mode, I must admit, but I haven’t seen this particular thing – and it is one of the really big pillars of Fable 2 – done well in any game. In fact, it was done very well in one game, and that game is now almost 30 years old. That’s a clue…”

What could the surprise be? And what is this 30 year old game he cryptically mentions?

If you haven't already seen the teaser trailer it can viewed at the official site

Is it just me who thinks the Molyneux has been ridiculously over-lionised by an industry desperate for hype? “One of the world's most brilliant and inventive game developers” - yeah, well that's what they'd have you believe, but I find the reality a bit different. Both Populous and SimCity were released in 1989, and SimCity has arguably had a far more wide-reaching effect on game design, but I don't see people building shrines to Will Wright. Molyneux's last innovative game was Dungeon Keeper, which was quite fun, but that was quite some time ago. Fable was just laughable - ‘You can be good, or you can be bad, and it doesn’t make a difference!'
Lionhead are my favourate developers by far. Their lastest games, Black and White 2 and The movies were genius in ideas. Like any game they're not perfect but its the ideas behind their games which i find fasinating.

The original fable on the xbox had me hooked for many hours, played it through several times with different characters and I hope the sequal delivers the same amount of gaming satisfaction
I thought the first Black & White was completely awesome. What a great game that was.
