If you don't own a PS2 you wouldn't have experienced Red Octane's superb Guitar Hero. The game features a guitar-shaped peripheral (resembling a miniature Gibson SG) as a primary controller to simulate the playing of an electric guitar and gamers are currently enjoying playing along to tracks from the likes of Deep Purple, Jimmi Hendrix, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Motorhead.

There's some great news for guitar fans as Activision reveal that the series will be apperaring on all 'significant' formats - Gamestation staff have already reported that Guitar Hero will appear on Xbox 360 in early 2007.

Guitar Hero II is due out in November on the Playstation 2 and will be available as a hardware bundle complete with replica Gibson SG controller, or as a standalone disc – so anyone who owns the original game can enjoy this latest release within the Guitar Hero family.

As well as new songs, more locations and a whole lot more rocking, Guitar Hero II will boast additional multiplayer modes in which two guitarists can play lead and rhythm or bass tracks separately – for that proper band experience.
