Ooh, Xbox 360 and DivX made easy!

One thing that still riles many folk is the Xbox 360’s inability to stream DivX movies. This isn’t a hardware issue because it is possible, as we’ve seen with Casey Chestnut's Streaming article. This is hugely complicated though, as getting the right bits of software to talk to each other in the right way takes forever…

So how about a simple process that, rather than tricking the software into working, just works anyway? Over at Jake Ludington's MediaBlab there’s a guide on how to get DivX streaming with the minimum of fuss and bother… all you need is a MCE Video Encoder and the official DivX player… all helpfully linked to from the site.

Then all you do is run a couple of wizards and Bob, as they say, is your mother’s brother!

Check out the full article at Jake Ludington's MediaBlab.

Has anyone tried this yet? :)

Also is there an easy way to batch convert VTS/VOBs to DivX?
You can convert the VTS / VOB files using WinAvi, it does loads of different conversions for you to many different formats (VCD,SVCD,AVI,RM and AVI to DVD). It takes around 35 mins to convert around 2 hours worth of media. You can add more than one set of files to it also.

I use Transcode 360 simply because the end result looks just as good as the original file and it is also able to transcode AC3 which is great feature.
I'm with leejhamilton, I've been using Transcode360 for a while and it works a treat. Not only for Divx either, I stream Xvid, Realplayer, Quicktime, the works.
