According to reports from Pocket-lint, Microsoft will be offering a special deal on the Xbox 360 HD-DVD next month. Currently, the external drive retails at £114, but in October we'll also receive 5 free HD-DVDs, which currently retail at approximately £15-£20. Sounds like a pretty decent deal.

Microsoft recently offered a similar deal in the US, which was a great success, with many online retailers selling out of stock within hours.

A date for the HD-DVD deal is not yet known and take this with a pinch of salt until Microsoft officially confirm it.

The Xbox 360 HD-DVD player is an inexpensive way for 360 owners to get high-def movies. For you gamers who already love your Xbox, just plug in the HD-DVD player and boost your at-home viewing with ultra-sharp images and surround sound. Or, go and buy a Blu-Ray player, the choice is yours.
