Problems from the very start...

When I review a game I make damn sure that I get it before I pass any judgement. What I mean is that I make sure I understand what the game is all about, the storyline, the playing style… even the type of person the game is aimed at. All of this is so I can be as fair as possible when reviewing a game. After all, a Counter Strike player is hardly going to be interested in Barbie Princess Adventure… but little girls will love it.

So, when reviewing Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland not only was I utterly stumped by the game but I was also left with no way in to understanding it by trying to get in the mindset of someone this might appeal to. Bluntly put, unless you’re a thoroughly bored co-habitating resident of Brighton (who shares his double bed with his male flatmate), you’ll see little in Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland that sparks any sort of affinity.

Now I know games are ultimately just a way of passing the time but at least you feel you’ve achieved something once you’ve completed a game. Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland does it’s level best to keep you playing purely by the fact that what goals there are in here are obscured at best, most often you’ll not have an idea at all what you’re aiming for and even when you do know what you’re supposed to be doing, it’s so damn tediously laborious that you’ll want to put the game down, go outside and watch the grass grow, just for a bit of excitement.

But am I being too harsh because I’ve completely missed the point of Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland? Read on and decide for yourself.
