Let’s-a go!

Ok, there is no possible way on this Earth that you haven’t at least heard of Mario Kart, be it in some form or other. Since Mario and his friends debuted on the SNES way back when I had hair on my head, Nintendo have made sure there’s been a version of Mario Kart on every platform from the N64 and GBA through to the GC and DS… and they’ve all been pretty damn awesome.

Part of the attraction of Mario Kart has to be its simplicity combined with its hidden complexity. Yes, I know that sounds like an oxymoron but it’s not. Mario Kart is stupidly easy to play. You hit one button to accelerate and use the joystick (or d-pad or whatever) to steer. Another button is used to brake and one more to fire off the pick-ups you collect as you blast around the track. And that really is all you need to know to get going.

So the big question is this: does Mario Kart on the Wii do anything new or is it just more of the same only now using the Wii Remote motion sensing stuff?

Well the answer to that is both yes and no… read on to find out why…
