Play as EVE
The developer has tried to freshen up the gameplay by giving you the opportunity to control another character in the game, which does makes a nice change from the control limitations that are forced onto you with WALL-E.EVE is WALLE’s love interest and she has her own flying/racing levels, where you get the chance to scan the landscape for organic life, fly around shooting lasers at enemies and obstacles and activate switches that invariably open pathways to new areas.
Although these sections are more certainly more fun than controlling WALL-E and solving dozens of similar puzzles, they’re also plagued with poor game mechanics and the scenarios that you’ll find yourself in are all very familiar. How many more games do we have to play where we race through bloody rings? If it had have been done well, then fair enough, but there’s nothing clever about the gameplay, the flawed targeting system or even the shoddy graphics.
There’s just a severe lack of imagination from the developer when it created WALL-E, which is such a shame when it could and should have been so much better.
Disney Pixar took the widely-used earth-saving concept and created a unique film with style. Developer, Heavy Iron Studios, took Disney Pixar’s stylish project and murdered it.
