Co-op and multiplayer modes

Online, HAWX is a bit of a mixed bag. Co-op mode gives HAWX added replay value, allowing you to team up with three other gamers to take on slight variations of the single player missions against waves of attacking enemies. With good communication via the headset you can enjoy some great battles if you can get into a decent game. The lack of a lobby system, however, can make this difficult and you can often find yourself joining players mid-way, or even near to the end of a game. Multiplayer mode is somewhat disappointing, especially when you take into account the wealth of game modes in previous Tom Clancy games, but despite it being nothing more than a 4 v. 4 Team Deathmatch,it’s something else to get stuck into once you’ve finished the enjoyable single player campaign.

HAWX isn’t perfect by any means, but it lays down some solid foundations for future iterations in the series and it does entice you with its smooth and accessible arcade gameplay. If you’re seeking a deep flight simulation, or even a aerial battle of tactics and skill, you won’t find it here. What you will find, however, is a smooth and accessible arcade experience that you’ll find hard to put down.

Pros
Plenty of missions and side objectives
Instant pick up and play appeal Enjoyable arcade-style gameplay Value for money

Cons
Lacks depth of other Clancy games
Weak multiplayer

HAWX's enjoyable arcade experience lays down a solid foundation for future iterations in the series. (7.5/10)
