In summary...
Having experimented with numerous free basic video editing tools over the past few months and finally decided to throw my money at Corel VideoStudio Pro X4, I have experienced better and clearer user interfaces for editing footage. Though the Roxio software gives you everything you should need, such as the ability to trim clips, overlay with audio and text and create commentary to your videos, it’s not particularly easy to navigate or clearly laid out. Indeed, it’s not a great tool if you want to do extensive editing on a regular basis, especially when there are so many better suites on the market. However, though it may take a bit of getting used to if you've used other software packages, the end result for recording commentary, trimming clips and capturing screenshots, is impressive. And the option to be able to share your videos immediately by uploading from the software directly to YouTube is a nice little feature that means you really can record footage and get it online within a matter of minutes.Setting the Roxio Game Capture up couldn’t be simpler, which is definintely a big part of its appeal. For those gamers who just want to plug in, play, record and upload with little fuss or effort then it's highly recommended. Within fifteen minutes of unpacking the device I’d already taken my first few minutes of footage, edited it with commentary and uploaded it to my Facebook profile. For more in-depth editing, the video editing software doesn't quite have the same functionality and ease-of-use as some of the other well-known editing suites, but it should have all the features you really need for becoming a game capturing hobbyist. At £79.99, I can’t help feel that the Game Cap is still a little over-priced for what it is, but if you want to reliaby capture game footage with the minimum of fuss at a fairly affordable price then it stands totally unchallenged as a very decent middle-of-the-range solution for gamers who want to show-off on YouTube.
