Pedal power
Nokia has wheeled out a bicycle charger to provide a green solution for cyclists wanting to save some money.
According to Nokia, the Bicycle Charger, which will set cyclists back £25, provides power as efficiently as common Nokia mains chargers at only 12 km/h, so biking enthusiasts and commuters alike needn't be Lance Armstrong to recharge their mobile.
The kit includes a charger, a holder to temporarily fix the phone to the bike and a dynamo, which uses the movement of the wheels to charge the handset through the standard 2mm charging jack used in most Nokia mobile phones.
Nokia claims its new toy is easy to install, durable and weather resistant as well as eco-friendly.
Nokia phones compatible with the bicycle charger include: the N8, C7, C6-01, C3-01 Touch and Type, C5-03, N900, X3-02 Touch and Type and C6.
Sami Lehtinen, general manger of Nokia UK, said, "With our innovative bike charger, people get even more freedom to use their Nokia without worrying about battery life, it's also great for the environment."
