Torch-tastic?

The rumoured price of Research in Motion's (RIM) new BlackBerry Torch 9800 handset in the UK has been uncovered by a website.

Although there is no official date for the launch of the Torch in the UK, BlackBerry Leaks claims to have got hold of some Vodafone pricing details for the handset.

According to the site, an 18 month contract will cost between £20 and £40 a month, with two year contracts starting at £15.

However, BlackBerry fans will reportedly have to fork out a massive £399 for a pay-as-you-go handset or upwards from £49 in some contracts. However, as with most smartphones it looks like it will be thrown in free with heftier price plans.

The latest handset from RIM got off to an ‘underwhelming' start in the US with ‘disappointing' sales and suffered the indignity of its price being cut in half just one week after launch.

The Torch was unveiled just over one month ago and is the first RIM handset to boast its new OS, Blackberry 6.
