Is Scribblenauts Remix a write-off?
Once you've completed the 50 levels, which is likely to take you some time unless you're tempted to use one of the many walkthroughs online, the sandbox playground mode provides some replay value, allowing you to idle away time creating objects to see how they'll react with each other. Typing in "policeman" and "robber," for example, results in the copper chasing and shooting the bad guy.Scribblenauts Remix also adds a few new features exclusive to iOS, taking advantage of the iCloud to sync game data between your iPhone and iPad instantly. Jumping on the social-media bandwagon, it also provides Facebook integration, which allows you to share your achievements and progression with friends.
If you've played Scribblenauts before then there's not too much to get excited about in terms of content. However, despite the disappointing omission of the level editor from the DS version, the iPad port looks suitably impressive on the large screen and the optimised touchscreen controls and large touchpad ensures you don't suffer with some of poor object manipulation that plagued the DS version.
The concept of Scribblenauts Remix may sound simple, but the execution is absolute genius. The pick-up-and-play appeal makes it perfect for iPad, while the varied levels and increasing challenge will keep your brain ticking over and encourage you to really think outside of convention. Put quite simply, Scribblenauts Remix is addictive, amusing and one of the most innovative puzzle games of the last few years.
