Lian Li wants to cool your Xbox 360

Check out our TV coverage of this product

Lian Li had something special under wraps here on the pre-show day at CeBIT 2008. Hidden in a cardboard box was a pre-production sample of its all-new Xbox 360 chassis.

The enclosure, made from its lush, anodised, brushed aluminium, has enough space for all the internal components of the console, along with pre-prepared water-cooling holes in the rear.

In addition, the chassis has the necessary preparation for Elite owners to transfer their hardware, with space for the HDMI already catered for and the noisy cooling of the console replaced by a single, low-speed 120mm fan on the rear.

While the power-brick is still external, we think this is a pretty sweet alternative to the standard 360 enclosure. What's more, it's rumoured to be hitting the shelves for around US$80. We like it and we also like the fact that the 'X' on the top looks more like our own logo than the official Microsoft one - if only it glowed in a nice shade of orange!

Hexus Xbox mod, anyone? :)
I like it (as I did the prototype), btu why have they made it so big, as a desktop its pretty huge. They could easily have side mounted the 120mm and optical drive surely
Whats with the lame looking “biscuit tin packaging” fan cowl?
I like the case, but it lacks the pizazz that Lian-Li usually has.
And you can guarantee the price over here will be £80
Bit overly large that
wouldn't you then be a bit scuppered if your Xbox then went and developed the ol ‘ring o death’ syndrome, or perhaps even it's DVD drive packed up (as mine has 3 times now). I don't think the microsoft rep would look too kindly on that arriving through the post…
