On March 12th 2010 Apple® launched the iPad into the UK shipping over 15 million units to date, with the market being dominated by Apple®, Samsung® and Elonex® gaining a combined market share of 80.93% in Q4 2010 (IDC EMEA Media Tablet Tracker Q4 2010). New technology carries a premium price tag and it was Elonex's vision to stand out from the competition to offer high quality tablets at an affordable price-point enabling one tablet per family member rather than one tablet per household. Today this vision becomes reality as Elonex announces a new family of eTouchTM tablets at Gadget Show Live 2011. With AndroidTM Tablets starting at £119 (inc VAT) with the new super-slim eTouchTM 702ET available in multi-colors, Wi-Fi and Capacitive screen at £179, and the slender 10" eTouchTM Blade with progressive screen at £189, Elonex is geared to set the industry alight over the coming months.
Elonex contends there is no need for such high price tags and that its extensive research and development costs should be retrieved through its licensing of patents, rather than directly to the consumer.
