Press Release

The new Professional PC meets the strict requirements of Energy Star Logos Version 4.0

Bracknell, UK, June 25th, 2007 – Fujitsu Siemens Computers continues to build on its reputation as the leading environmentally conscious IT company, by launching innovative energy saving systems into the market. The new ESPRIMO E5615 EPA Professional PC has a power supply with an 80 per cent efficiency factor, thus meeting the new stringent Energy Star V. 4.0 guideline, which will become valid in July 2007. The ESPRIMO E5615 is available immediately.

Standard PCs reach energy efficiency levels of approximately 60 per cent. Saving energy is becoming an increasingly important topic and for years IT companies such as Fujitsu Siemens Computers and organisations like the Environmental Protection Agency in USA (EPA) have been working on technologies to reduce power consumption. As an important step in this direction, the EPA which awards the Energy Star, will introduce stricter criteria in July 2007. The Energy Star V. 4.0 criteria demands power supply improvements of up to 80 per cent. The new ESPRIMO E5615 from Fujitsu Siemens Computers meets these requirements and saves an additional 15 per cent energy in comparison with standard models.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT manufacturer and market leader in Germany, has been at the forefront of developing and producing environmentally conscious products for years. As early as 1992 the company issued the first guidelines on environmentally sound product design. 1993 saw the launch of the first "Green PC" with an automatic energy saving function. The first energy saving ESPRIMO PC was developed in 2005, and in May 2006 the ESPRIMO E5615 was unveiled that enabled 25 per cent energy cost-savings compared with a standard PC. The new energy saving edition of the ESPRIMO P5615 - only recently announced – saves up to 50 per cent more energy compared with a three-year-old system.
