A look inside, and its baby brother
Removing the side panels which are pre-fitted with sound-deadening material and looking at the PCP-P80 from the side, we see another 140mm fan housed at the very top. Again, its rotational speed is linked in with the fan-controller on the front.
Chassis width regulates that the exhaust fan at the back is a regular 120mm model. The internal area is large enough to accommodate an eATX board.
The 12-bay tower ships with a couple of removable HDD-mounting cages that hold three 3.5in drives each. They feature an anti-drive-vibration design and are located at the bottom, cooled by one of the 140mm intake fans you saw on the previous page.
The PSU is located at the top, and we note that Lian Li has cutouts for 10 expansion slots, presumably for motherboards with multiple graphics cards - AMD 790FX and CrossFireX, anyone?
As a nod to the high-end gaming credentials of the PCP-P80, Lian Li has a couple of pre-stamped holes for easy install of a couple of watercooling kits, we note.
You're not seeing double, folks. The chassis on the left is the PCP-P80 v1.0. The design has been turned on its head for the v2.0.
The PCP-P80 will retail for around £200-£250 ($400-$500 USD) when it goes on sale in January. It'll be up against some stiff competition from the likes of the SilverStone Temjin TJ10 and Cooler Master's Stacker series, in particular.
If the price-tag makes your wallet's alarm go off, you could always go for the smaller model, the PCP-P60, complete with a LAN-friendly handle.
Not quite as roomy as the PCP-P80, obviously, the smaller model retains many of its bigger brother's features, albeit with smaller intake fans on the front. No word on pricing for this model, however.
There you have it - a first-look at a chassis that Lian Li hopes will appeal to the gamer/enthusiast who wants to house a high-end system in a quality case.
