Lian Li is continuing to knock out chassis at a feverish pace. Following on from last week's PC-X900 and TYR PC-X2000F, the Taiwanese manufacturer is today announcing a new mid-tower offering; the PC-B25S.
Arriving as a variation to last year's PC-B25F, the "S" model sets out to provide a quieter computing experience.
Measuring 210mm x 545mm x 497mm, the revised model is slightly larger than its predecessor but the extra room allows Lian Li to throw in a bevy of noise-dampening features.
All of the top, front and side panels are now foam padded to help prevent noise from leaking out of the chassis, and all five fans have been equipped with anti-vibration mountings. Going a step further, the two 140mm top exhaust fans are covered by an angled foam-padded cover, the rear 120mm exhaust rests behind a foam-padded and angle-adjustable cover, and a vent covering the two 120mm front intakes also promises to reduce noise.
Elsewhere, the removable top and front panels lock onto the chassis' 1.5mm thick aluminium frame using custom-made plastic kits to ensure there's no unnecessary metal-on-metal vibration, and there's a sprinkling of rubber pads throughout the chassis - including the PSU mount, PCI mounting brackets and the tool-less 5.25in drive bays. Even your 3.5in hard drives can be mounted using Lian Li's rubberised thumb screws.
Useful improvements all round for the quiet computing crowd, but there's an obvious proviso - price. Lian Li expects the PC-B25S to arrive at retail later this month priced at $289 + VAT. For UK buyers, we reckon that'll make it at least £80 more expensive than the standard "F" model.
