SilentiumPC has just launched a new value-orientated PC chassis. The Regnum RG-1 Pure Black supports both mATX and ATX motherboards and is priced at £24 / €31 / $27.50. Despite the value pricing, SilentiumPC has leveraged attractive, often premium, features including a dual-chamber internal layout combined with a minimal brushed finish front panel design.

It is claimed by SilentiumPC that the Regnum RG-1 is actually the first value-orientated chassis to offer a dual-chamber internal layout. This style of internal partitioning is growing in popularity as people temperature 'zone' their systems. SilentiumPC says the layout in its new chassis "dramatically improves both airflow and cable management". The end result is a cooler running system with neat cable management, without a great deal of effort by the PC builder.

The SilentiumPC Regnum RG-1 isn't a small chassis, it measures 430(H) x 447(L) x 208(W)mm but if space isn't at a premium you benefit from good air flow and good maximum compatibility. CPU coolers as tall as 160mm can be fitted and graphics cards as long as 380mm can be installed. A single 120mm fan is supplied (rear mounted) with the purchased chassis but users can mount as many as six such fans and the chassis is compatible with both single and dual radiator style AiO liquid coolers.

As you can see from the photos, the RG-1 offers 2x 5.25-inch external bays, while inside there are mounts for 2x 3.5-inch and 2x 2.5-inch internal drives. On the top of the case users enjoy easy access to 2x USB 3.0 ports, audio I/O, plus independent power and reset switches and drive activity and power LEDs.

The SilentiumPC Regnum RG-1 Pure Black will be regionally priced as follows:

  • MSRP incl. VAT: 31.00 EUR / 23.90 GBP / 129,00 PLN / 849,00 CZK
  • MSRP excl. tax: 27.50 USD

How is that even possible?!
Looks like a really decent case for the money. A version filled with 3.5" bays would be fantastic.
I need this case to replace an old Antec 300 which hasn't been replaced due to depth restrictions of my desk (…and personal taste of ATX alternatives!).
It's made with that horrible thin steel as with most other budget cases, but even as a budget case I think it looks really good.
That GPU sag.
