Panos Panay, CVP of Microsoft Devices, announced the Surface Pro with LTE Advanced yesterday at the Future Decoded conference being held at ExCeL London. This is a business focussed conference all about technology transforming the ways that organisations work. The key announcement was that the Microsoft Surface Pro with LTE Advanced would become available to businesses from 1st December onwards.

Microsoft originally revealed the fifth gen Surface Pro in Shanghai, in May, but the LTE radio packing version has taken until now to be scheduled for launch. In a blog post Panay claimed the Surface Pro would become the “fastest LTE-enabled laptop in its class”. With 20 cellular bands supported its support, worldwide, is expected to be robust.

Much of the talk at Future Decoded was about the evolution of the workplace, about how “creativity is the new productivity”, and recruiting top talent to your company. Of course, Panay showed a role for the Surface in all of these areas.

According to figures shared, Microsoft’s Surface does indeed look like it is on a winning streak. Over the next 12 months, 15 per cent of organisations plan to increase investment in Surface devices – which compares to 8 per cent expressing the same intention with regard to Apple laptops and PCs. Other good news for Microsoft was that more than 50 per cent of Fortune 100 companies now use Surface Hub to propel innovation, collaboration, and capture new ideas.
