Well known fact: world loves curves

Pictured below is an image of Inventec's forthcoming UMPC, the UMPC 7-A, which is set to go into production later this year.

Having featured at the 2008 IF Product Design Awards, this curvy portable was awarded for its easy-on-the-eye design. It isn't just good looks either, the UMPC 7-A provides a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which combined with the curved design is said to give a better viewing angle and more ergonomic feel.

Another winner at the IF Product Design Awards was Inventec's UMPC 5-D, pictured below, this one takes a modular approach and has a fair few interesting peripherals to combine with. Still, it isn't as pretty as the 7-A in my opinion.

No info on specification or pricing just yet, but Inventec are part of Intel's Mobile Internet Device Innovation Alliance so don't be surprised to see these running on the Intel Menlow platform. As the shots above clearly show Windows Vista, it wouldn't be a wild guess to suggest that these machines will have a half decent specification too.

Very pretty - thing is I feel all of these UMPC's are going to face a slight squeeze with things like EEPC… ?
