Apple has confirmed that it will delay the launch of its new iPad 2 tablet in Japan, after last week's devastating natural disaster.

It seems like the last thing that Japan's people will be concerned about, but there is now no rescheduled launch date for tablet, which was due to go on sale in the country on 25 March, Reuters reported.

An Apple spokeswoman reportedly told the news service: "We are delaying the launch of the iPad 2 in Japan while the country and our teams focus on recovering from the recent disaster."

It has been reported that a lot of companies are experiencing problems getting hold of essential supplies, which has impacted the global manufacturing chain, after the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan.

However, Apple reportedly told Reuters its plan to delay the iPad 2's launch has nothing to do with any shortages.

Analysts apparently reckon that 5 percent of Apple's revenue came from Japan in the last quarter and this quarter will probably be impacted by the natural disaster, while theJune quarter could be hit by supply shortages in particular.

The tablet launched in the US last week and was pretty much a sell-out success. It is due to launch in more countries next week and Vodafone UK has confirmed it will offer the iPad 2 Wi-Fi and 3G models.
