The news
Latest portable media player from Apple is the quirkily-named but well-intentioned iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition. Each one sold will generate US$10 for the fight against HIV and AIDS, with the money going to the Red Campaign's global fund.
The red aluminium 4GB model - SRP £129 inc VAT - can play video (at 640x480 pixels) and show stills, as well as output music. It's said to hold up to 1,000 songs in 128-Kbps AAC format or up to 25,000 photos. The rechargeable battery is reckoned to be good for up to 24 hours of music playback or five hours of slideshows with music.
Weight is 40g and dimensions 90(h) x 40(w) x 6.5(d)mm. Accessories supplied in pack are a set of earphones, a USB cable and a dock adaptor. Full specs can be viewed here.
Details of the full range of current (PRODUCT) RED products of all brands are shown here and include phones and services from Motorola, a collection by Giorgio Armani that takes in a watch, clothing and accessories; and more clothing and accessories by GAP.
