The Lenovo Tech World show in Beijing has just come to a close. The one day show, billed as demonstrating that "Innovation Never Stands Still," saw Lenovo launch a plethora of products from IoT and wearables, smartphones to tablets, PCs, servers, software, and cloud services. Chairman and CEO of Lenovo, Yang Yuanqing, oversaw the proceedings and both Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Intel CEO Brian M. Krzanich were present.

Laptops and tablets

One of the key products revealed was the updated ThinkPad 10. This tablet comes with enhanced abilities thanks to the ThinkPad Pen Pro, a superior keyboard accessory in the form of the new ThinkPad Folio Keyboard and an optional ThinkPad Tablet Dock. This quad-core Intel Atom powered Microsoft Surface rival offers a bright 1920x1200 IPS touch display, 10 hours of battery life, and enterprise friendly dTPM, FPR and SCR features.

The updated ThinkPad is said to come with Windows 10 installed and Cortana with REACHit – delivered thanks to an exclusive Microsoft-Lenovo partnership. Another Lenovo specific technology called WRITEit converts user handwriting to text. Lenovo's new tablet will be made available in Europe September starting from £359 including VAT.

A new IdeaPad 100 laptop is said to bring an ultra-low price point to Windows 8.1 with Bing laptops. These will be Atom powered and available with either 14-inch or 15-inch screens. Standard battery life of both laptops seems short – about 4 hours.

Turning to multimedia laptops Lenovo announced the Z41/Z51 machines which offer up to 5th generation Intel Core i7 processors, Full HD displays, choice of integrated or discrete AMD graphics, 802.11 a/c Wi-Fi, Dolby surround sound and an optional Intel RealSense 3D camera (Z51 only). Again these suffer from a rather short battery life of about 4 hours.

Mobiles and gadgetry

Starting with mobiles Lenovo announced that Moto Maker is coming to China and will also work with Moto 360 smartwatch orders starting in select markets offering "thousands of potential designs," to smartphone and smartwatch buyers. Smartphones featured at Tech World included the Lenovo Smart Cast laser projector smartphone and the Lenovo Vive Shot 2-in-1 smartphone and camera.

Other interesting gadgets shown at Tech World include the Lenovo Cast which lets you display Miracast imagery on your HDMI TV from up to 20m away. The Lenovo Magic View Smartwatch is a wearable with an additional virtual interactive private display on the wristband. A two finger swipe from the watch face sends the display onto the private screen. Lenovo also showed its vision for the IoT in modern homes. I've embedded that video below, where you can also catch a glimpse of Lenovo smart shoes.
