Following a swathe of feature-rich, but uninspiringly designed - we'd even say ugly - phones, Nokia's seen the light and come forth with a new collection of phones, dubbed "Prism".
The collection, currently two-strong, includes the 7900 Prism and 7500 Prism. The phones feature, as Nokia puts it, a "signature diamond-cut design, featuring sharp angled lines, geometric patterns and graphic light-refracting colours".
The 7900 is the flagship Prism, sporting an Organic LED display that can dish out up to 16 million colours. The keypad is backlit, just like any phone. But unlike others, it can be lit in one of 49 different colours, making it more mesmerising than a lava lamp... perhaps.
The back of the 7900 is made from anodised aluminium and finish of the product is liquorice-black. There's a 2MP camera, 3G connectivity and 1GiB of on-board memory... room enough for a collection of chillout songs to listen to when gazing at the phone's hypnotic form.
The 7500 isn't quite as fancy as the 7900, but has similar looks and has interchangeable "colour accents". It too has a 2MP camera. A microSD slot provides support for up to 2GiB of storage.
Nokia's said it'll be launching the two Prism phones in Q3 2007, priced at around €400 for the 7900 and €200 for the 7500.
We reckon these phones are aimed squarely at those getting bored of their RAZRs, SLVRs and Prada phones. Your thoughts, as always, are welcome!
