Dell has expanded its Inspiron Gaming PC range to include its first ever desktop. As the owner of the Alienware brand, Dell is using the Inspiron line to introduce lower tier gaming PCs to consumers. The new Inspiron Gaming Desktop features up to the latest AMD Ryzen processors and Polaris graphics but it is flexible enough to allow customers to configure up to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, should they wish.
The Dell Inspiron Gaming Desktop starts at a price of $699 / £699. As usual with Dell they are highly configurable via the web store. For example, beyond the flexibility mentioned in the intro, users can pick from a range of VR Ready graphics cards up to dual-graphics, up to 32GB of RAM, with advanced cooling options, and Waves MaxxAudio Pro with Performance 7.1 Channel HD audio. Storage choices range from high-capacity hard drives to responsive SSD, and dual-drive options, plus up to five bays for future storage upgrades. However, a CNet report says that the base config offers an AMD APU system (no discrete GPU) with HDD storage.
As standard the desktop boasts a convenient SuperSpeed USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port and up to six SuperSpeed USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports total. Other standard features are the "dramatic design with advanced ventilation," of the chassis plus a smattering of Polar Blue LEDs.
Dell says that the gaming desktop system will go live on its site with worldwide availability from 6th July.
